Rochester MN Airport Transportation: Private Rides to MSP and RST

Airport runs are where Gold Crown started, and they are still most of what the phones are about. This page covers both of the airports our passengers use: Minneapolis–Saint Paul International (MSP) and Rochester International (RST). Either way, the ride is private, the driver is expecting you, and the price is quoted before you book.

Rochester to MSP, and back

A private car from Rochester to MSP is a door-to-door ride. Your chauffeur picks you up at your home, hotel, or clinic entrance, loads the bags, and drives you to the terminal for your airline. Coming home, the driver is waiting at baggage claim with your name on a sign.

Most people planning a Rochester to MSP airport transfer ask the same question first: how early should I leave? A good rule is to be at MSP two hours before a domestic flight. The drive is about 80 miles, so plan on roughly an hour and a half on the road, and add extra time from November through March. Tell us your flight time when you book and we work backward from there.

Rochester International Airport (RST)

RST is less than 20 minutes from downtown, which makes it an easy ride with one catch: flights are fewer, so the schedule matters. Our drivers watch the arrival board and your flight status, and they are at the curb when you step out. If you land with a patient who needs extra time, we adjust. There is no clock running against you at the terminal.

If you are comparing a Rochester MN airport shuttle with a private car for a short ride, think about luggage and timing. A shuttle works when your schedule matches theirs. A private car works when it does not.

How a pickup works

  1. You book by phone or online with your flight number.
  2. The day before, we confirm the time and your driver’s contact details.
  3. On the day, the driver tracks your flight and adjusts for early or late arrivals.
  4. At MSP, the driver meets you at baggage claim. At RST, the driver meets you at the terminal.
  5. The ride ends at your door.

Vehicles for airport rides

A Lincoln Continental or Cadillac XT5 suits one to three travelers with a normal amount of luggage. The Lincoln Nautilus and Chevrolet Suburban handle bigger bags and wheelchairs or walkers that fold. The Ford Transit carries a larger group, such as a family traveling together or a team arriving on the same flight. See the fleet page for each vehicle.

What is included

  • Flight tracking for the whole trip.
  • Meet-and-greet at baggage claim, no extra fee.
  • Free Wi-Fi and bottled water.
  • A smoke-free car.
  • Service any hour of the day, including early morning departures and late-night arrivals.

Early flights and late arrivals

Flights do not keep business hours, and neither does the office. A 5:50 a.m. departure out of MSP means a pickup in Rochester in the middle of the night, and a driver who has already checked the weather and the roads. A 10:45 p.m. arrival means a car waiting after the last scheduled shuttle has gone home. Tell us the flight and we build the pickup around it.

For very early departures, book the ride at least a day ahead and save the driver’s number in your phone. That way a wrong turn in a dark hotel parking lot becomes a ten-second phone call rather than a missed flight.

Traveling with luggage, equipment, or kids

Bring what you need. Golf bags, extra suitcases, a folding walker, a car seat you travel with: mention them when you book so the right vehicle shows up. Child seats are available on request.
